River Park
  • Location: Just east of Lompoc on Ocean Avenue/Highway 246
  • Phone: (805) 736-6565
  • About: Camp, picnic, play, relax, and do much more at River Park. River Park has a R.V. campground section. Available in those sections are full-hookups, picnic tables, fire pits, heated showers, restrooms, and a dump station. The park does have a resident Park Ranger. Other areas of the park include the playground, the veterans memorial, horseshoe pits, an exercise path with obstacles, and a small sized lake. Swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited. There are also areas with barbecues and picnic tables throughout the park.

Ocean Beach County Park
  • Location: At the west end of Ocean Avenue, Lompoc. Approx. 13 miles west, make a right turn onto Ocean Park Road. Or to get to the beach where access is permitted, keep going on Ocean Ave. until you cannot go any further, and you are there.Caution Sign Posted at Ocean Park

  • About: Ocean Beach (Surf) is the closest beach to Lompoc. The park section has picnic tables, restrooms, and barbecues. Swimming at Ocean Beach is not recommended due to very dangerous currents, and the absence of lifeguards. If you do choose to go out, please be careful and never go alone. It is good for surf-fishing, taking walks, and whatever else one may choose to do. Access to certain parts of the beach is restricted because of the endangered Snowy Plover.

Jalama Beach County Park
  • Location: Jalama Road, approx. 5 miles south of Lompoc on Highway 1. You will be turning right if going south from Lompoc.
  • Phone: (805) 736-6316
  • About: Jalama is very popular for windsurfing,camping and the famous Jalama Burger. Although swimming is permitted, it should be known that there are dangerous offshore rip currents.

Cachuma Lake
  • Location: Coming from Santa Barbara or south, take Highway 101 to the San Marcos Pass exit, Highway 154. Park entrance approx. 20 miles further. From Lompoc take Highway 246 to Highway 154. At 154 go right. Keep going on 154 until you see the Cachuma exit - click here for maps.

  • About: Lake Cachuma offers a wide variety of camping accommodations. There's also nature cruises, boat rentals, fishing, hiking, horseshoe pits, volleyball, and much more. The lake is a drinking water reservoir, swimming or any type of body contact with the water is strictly prohibited.

Gaviota State Park
  • Location: Off of U.S. 101, approx. 22 mi. south of Lompoc / 32 mi. north of Santa Barbara

  • About: Swimming, kayaking, boating, camping, fishing; what more can you ask for? The only beach near Lompoc with a pier to fish from, and a boat hoist (may not be working right now).

Refugio State Beach
  • Location: 10 Refugio Beach Rd., Goleta CA 93117. Exit onto Refugio Road off US 101 approx. 20 miles northwest of Santa Barbara or 34 miles south of Lompoc.

  • About: With about 1.5 miles of beach, you have plenty of space to set up and tan, picnic, etc. There's picnic areas, campsites, and fishing at the state beach. There's also a bike trail approximately two and a half miles long leading east to El Capitan State Beach.
